Professional Achievements in Training and Educational Accomplishments

The Cordele Police Department has always encouraged its officers to pursue the highest levels of training and education. This commitment not only enhances overall performance but also helps reduce departmental liability. The department is proud to recognize several officers for their recent accomplishments and reaffirm its dedication to supporting the continued professional growth of all personnel as they build upon the outstanding work they perform each day.

Through the Peace Officers Standards and Training Council (POST) and the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP), officers must meet specific requirements to earn advanced certifications. The Cordele Police Department is proud to highlight the following achievements:

Captain Jeremy Taylor: Executive Certificate – 13th Career Development Certification

To receive this certification, officers must:

· Hold an executive or command staff position for at least one year prior to certification

· Complete POST and GACP-approved Executive Development Training through the 440-hour Georgia Law Enforcement Command College Course

· Complete the Chief’s Executive Training (Chiefs School) through GACP

Lieutenant Charles Pheil: Field Training Officer Certificate and Intermediate Law Enforcement Certificate – 3rd and 4th Career Development Certifications Field Training Officer (FTO) Certificate Requirements:

· Minimum of three years of law enforcement experience

· Completion of a 40-hour FTO course

Intermediate Law Enforcement Certificate Requirements:

· Active law enforcement certification in good standing with POST

· Minimum of two years of full-time law enforcement experience

· Completion of 150 hours of POST-approved specialized or advanced training

Sergeant Robert Montgomery: Intermediate Law Enforcement Certificate – 5th Career Development Certification

Requirements are the same as those listed above for the Intermediate Law Enforcement Certificate.

Sergeant Amy Stokes: Intermediate and Advanced Law Enforcement Certificates – 3rd and 4th Career Development Certifications Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate Requirements:

· Possession of the Intermediate Law Enforcement Certificate

· Good standing with POST

· Minimum of four years of law enforcement experience

· Completion of an additional 150 hours of POST-approved specialized or advanced training, for a total of 300 hours

Their achievements reflect not only their individual commitment but also the department’s ongoing focus on developing knowledgeable, capable, and community-oriented law enforcement professionals.
